Being the change

Our 'be the change' award this month goes to a real life deity - the goddess of Gurkhas - Ms Joanna Lumley. We have, however, not chosen her for this one outstanding ethical and humanitarian achievement, but rather for 63 years lived as an inspiration. A vegetarian and animal rights campaigner Ms Lumley has long been the champion of those without a voice of their own.

Here at Avasarah we want to change the world, and we strongly believe that the way to do that is not to rely on big business, Government or someone 'more qualified' to do it. We believe that every single one of us can create real lasting improvements in ourselves, the lives of others and the state of our planet, by just taking just one small step towards making a difference, or as Gandhi put it 'be(ing) the change you want to see in the world."

Most importantly, we believe that there is no step too small, any action without value. Many of us are so overwhelmed by the enormity of the tasks ahead of us and the voices of some demanding immediate, complete and perfect change, that we feel powerless in the face of this.

As most of us are acutely aware, modern life is busy and full of stress. The busier and more stressed we become, the more disconnected we are from ourselves and the those we love.
