At Avasarah we believe beauty should be more than skin deep.
We've taken our passions for jewellery, this planet and it's people, and joined them in a company that is committed to bring you the best, most beautiful jewellery - with a heart of gold.
Our name, Avasarah, is the Sanskrit word for opportunity - an opportunity for designers who are trying to make a difference in the world to showcase their work; an opportunity to spread the word about the bad (and the good) of the jewellery industry, an opportunity to contribute directly to the upliftment of underprivileged communities, an opportunity for our customers to make informed and more ethical choices without having to sacrifice on beauty or good design and ultimately to make all this beauty and contribution an everyday part of our lives.
At Avasarah we are the first to put our hands up and say 'we are not perfect'. In an industry as ill informed and toxic as jewellery, we acknowledge that we and our fellow designers have a very long way to go before we can offer our work with a totally clear conscience. But, if all of us who are saddened by the lack of ethics left, there would be no change. So instead we believe in constantly trying to find better, cleaner, more ethical solutions to our problems and to cheer on every jeweller who joins us on this path to a better world.
We believe in rewarding positive actions and know that it is a long journey to a better world, so while some of our designers are shining lights in the ethical jewellery world, others, ourselves included, have just started out on our journey. For this reason we have a star rating system, some of our beautiful jewels will be a bright glowing 5 stars, and some will be a gently twinkling 1 or 2 stars. But feel assured that every single piece of jewellery on this site will, in it's own special way, be making a difference, and by supporting us, so will you.
